FROM PAUL ORUDE BAUCHI

As more stakeholders drummed support for former Abia State governor ,Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, urging him to vie for FIFA presidency position, a group, Nigerian Youths for Orji Uzor kalu (NAYOU-KALU) has appealed to ex-international, Chief Segun Odegbami to drop his ambition and support Kalu.
The group in a statement signed by Ayuba Bulus and Reverend Ray Maina, National Coordinator and Financial Secretary respectively noted that Kalu is the man that is in good stead to face the world, given his impressive record in the administration of sports.
The statement read in part:”We advise our brother, Segun Odegbami (the Mathematician) in the interest of our dear country, Nigeria and his love for football to please step down for Kalu. Kalu is the man that can face the world and he has an enviable record in sports administration. He mentored and nurtured Enyimba  football club to win the CAF  Champions League  back to back,  a feat which no Nigerian sports administrator is yet to equal.”
The group then implored Nigerians and  the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF)  to give the former Abia State governor the maximum support to enable Nigeria and Africa speak with one voice and win the FIFA presidency election early next year.
It reiterated that Kalu is suitable for the position and expressed confidence in his ability to make a mark at the world football stage as a leader because of his maturity and experience.
“Kalu’s success stories in sports,  business and politics are highly commendable and these make him the most suitable candidate from Nigeria for the position of FIFA president.”
